The eBook “Adventure of the Dying Detective” is an electronic version of one of 56 Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The story is part of seven other stories that form part of the His Last Bow collection. The “Adventure of the Dying Detective” showed the ability of the Sherlock Holmes character to manipulate a criminal's weakness to bring out the crime.

In this story, Sherlock Holmes exploited on the character's vanity and arrogance. Culverton Smith, the character in the “Adventure of the Dying Detective” can't help to gloat out to a weak dying person that he is victorious.

Doyle showed Culverton Smith in the story as a man with superior intellect although his body was too small for his head. The story “Adventure of the Dying Detective” also pointed out the background of Sherlock Holmes by using oysters which were considered as food for the poor during the author's time.
